A username is a string of characetrs which pretends to identify you.

In the [[FAQ_ed2k|ed2k network]], usernames have no real identification use since your [[client]] will either be identified on the [[server]] through its [[FAQ_ed2k#What_is_LowID_and_HighID?|ID]] or other [[client]]s through its [[SecureIdent]] keys.

In other words, in the [[FAQ_ed2k|ed2k network]], usernames exist to make you more easily identifiable to other human [[user]]s.

Geaiez es conocido por ser un [[cliente]] que repetidamente pregunta por tu lista de archivos compartidos. De echo, se ha concluido que estos rumores son falsos. O al menos no absolutamente ciertos.

Parece que [[cliente|clientes]] de [http://www.morpheus.com Morpheus], basado en [[mlDonkey]], en vez de generar un [[username|nombre de usuario]] aleatorio de 6 caracteres de longitud por defecto, usa un [[username|nombre de usuario]] especifico por defecto (como [[aMule]] usa ''http://www.aMule.org'' o [[eMule]] usa ''http://emule-project.net'') el cual es (adivina cual?) '''geaiez'''. No solo eso, sino que también, antiguos [[cliente|clientes]] de [[mlDonkey]] aparentemente preguntan por todos los archivos compartidos de todos aquellos [[cliente|clientes]] a los que se conectan.

Así que, lo que parecía un único usuario preguntando repetidamente por tu lista de archivos compartidos, son en realidad muchos usuarios preguntando por tu lista de archivos compartidos cada vez que se conectan a ti.

De todas formas, aunque no hay pruebas suficientes para asegurar que existe algún gobierno detrás de estos usuarios, debéis mantener vuestros ojos bien abiertos: no permitáis a otros usuarios obtener una lista de vuestros archivos compartidos si teneis alguna cosa privada siendo compartida (nosotros ya asumimos que vosotros no compartís material que no estais permitidos a compartir!).

This [[username]] is '''geaiez'''. In addition, older versions of [[mlDonkey]] [[client|clients]] apparently request for ''all'' shared files from all [[client|clients]] they connect to.

So, what seems to be a single [[client]] repeatedly requesting from you your shared files list, is, in fact, many [[client|clients]] requesting from you your shared files list every time they connect to you.

There is no evidence concluding that some government agency is behind those [[client]]s but you should always remain alert and do not allow other [[client|clients]] to obtain your list of shared files especially if you have anything private being shared (we assume you do '''not''' share stuff you are not permitted to share!).

A user is the person who is actually controlling an application or, in terms of the [[FAQ_ed2k|ed2k network]], a [[client]].

Anyway, most of the time ''user'' and ''[[client]]'' can be understood as equivalents.
